Privacy Policy
Bakers Timer is a baking timer app for iPhone. This policy describes what the app collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: your recipes live on your device and in your own iCloud; we see anonymous usage statistics and whatever you choose to publish to the community — nothing else. There are no ads, no tracking across other apps or websites, and we never sell data.
What stays on your device
Your timelines, running bakes, baking history, and settings are stored on your iPhone. They are also backed up to your personal iCloud account (Apple's infrastructure, under your Apple ID) so they survive reinstalls and new devices. We cannot read your iCloud data.
What we collect
- An anonymous identifier. The app signs in to our backend (Google Firebase) anonymously. This random identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple ID, and we don't know who it belongs to. It exists so community features (publishing, likes, reports) work.
- Usage statistics. We use Firebase Analytics to count anonymous events — a bake was started, a timeline was saved, a screen was opened. This tells us which features matter. It is not used for advertising and does not track you across other apps or sites (the app does not use the advertising identifier at all).
- Content you publish. If you make a timeline public, that timeline (its name, steps, description, and optional ingredient list) is stored on our backend and visible to all users, attributed to an auto-generated handle like @baker-3f2a. Likes, imports, and reports of published content are also stored.
Where it's processed
Community content and analytics are processed by Google Firebase (Google LLC), acting as our service provider. Apple processes iCloud backups and, if you install via the App Store, standard App Store analytics under Apple's own policies.
What we don't do
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across apps or websites.
- No selling or sharing of data for marketing.
- No accounts, emails, passwords, contacts, photos, or location.
Your choices
- Publishing is opt-in per timeline, and you can unpublish or delete your published timelines from the app at any time.
- iCloud backup follows your device's iCloud settings — turn iCloud Drive off for Bakers Timer in iOS Settings and nothing leaves the device.
- To have published content or the anonymous identifier's data deleted, contact us and we'll remove it.
Retention
Published content stays until you delete it or we remove it under moderation. Analytics events are retained by Firebase for a limited period (currently up to 14 months) and then deleted or aggregated.
Children
Bakers Timer is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes, the update appears on this page with a new date above.
